Sometimes Life is Interesting
Sometimes its not. But with a family of 6 at least its usually something.

Things in the corner
You know when you wake up in the morning, you walk into a really quiet, dimly lit, living room and in the corner you see this. Can startle a heart into skipping a few beats. Just a few, because then a little head pops out and explains he is playing his video games, and he would like breakfast.

ugh, mud
So here we are trying to make a deck in the back yard over the summer.
We have to dig out a spot right?
Well, who wouldn't want to make a mud pit first!

Ice Cream in the Oven..WHAT?!?!
Seriously who does that? Who reads a recipe and says "yes, that is a GREAT idea, I think I'll do that" Well, I did, and I did. See, Emma turned 12 and since I have plans to do a bigger party for the big 13, this year we did a family thing. She picked dinner and her cake. Meatballs, not your ordinary mac and cheese, and strawberry salad. Then she found an ice cream cake on pinterest. It was a process to make that cake, it didn't turn out so professional looking. I had to trust that placing the ice cream in my oven would not result in a puddle at the bottom. Let me tell you something though. MAN IT WAS GOOD!!! If there is ever another S'mores Ice Cream cake made in this home again it WILL be that one!! yummmmmmm...... So she is 12 now. She was about 5'3 or so on her bday. So as of today's date probably 5'4. She wears a 9 1/2 size shoe. She is beautiful in every since of the word.
Do you think she liked that Under Armor sweatshirt? or that cake? And I wasn't lying about the beautiful part either huh?!

Field Day
I love field day. Our P.E. Teacher is amazing and full of so much energy. I love that the kids can rock out to music, run, jump, get wet, and end their time with Popsicles. We were a little worried we might get rained out but despite the wind it was a perfect day for Dylan and I to hang out the ENTIRE day with the kids. Addy's class was the first half of the day, Brennon and Emma the second half. Dylan got to enjoy many of the activities with Addy's class. Next year it will be his turn! AND...This was Emma's last field day. Next year she'll be off to new and different things.

I seem to remember birthdays!
A bubble gum party. That is what my 9 year old wanted for his birthday this year. We invited a couple friends, hit a nearby indoor pool. Then came back to fill them up with pizza and cake. It was a fun time, and Brennon is 9. Well, he was 9 a while ago, because no matter how much I try to keep up on here I just seem to not be able to.

Distractions
I like my time that I have with my little guy, which we have a lot of time together just the two of us. He is becoming pretty funny too. The other night he was told by his father that he and his brother need to listen and do what was expected. Well of course that didn't happen and the Star Wars toys became a distraction for them both. Well, dad threatened to take away the toys if they were going to be distracting them. Of course, the little guy cried and was broken hearted. I took him aside and proceeded to try and explain how if something is distracting us from doing what we are suppose to do, then those things had to be taken away so we can make sure we are doing what is right. Well, he looked up at me and proceeded to tell me that his sisters were a distraction.
Guess it's time for the girls to pack up and move on.

A Huntin' For A Tree We Go.
A little disappointing that there wasn't any snow this year. No need for the sleds, or the winter gear. However, there really wasn't need for hot chocolate either, which we still had of course. It is amazing though too how much longer your willing to search for that "perfect" tree. Also, your more likely to actually find one that is pretty decent when it's not covered in snow making it a little harder to see the bare spots. No matter, we also enjoy spending a day heading up to the hills and getting our tree. A fun memory I hope my kids will always have.

What October brought
October seems to be the beginning of business for me. It begins with Addy's birthday. Then quickly we progress into Dylans birthday. Followed with Halloween and then it seems we roll our way into the holidays. Love my kiddos, love that even though making their birthday cakes can sometimes be a very involved process they get something fun that they want.

She did turn 11
Emma had some friends over for her birthday, she decided that it would be a lot of fun to have the girls decorate their own cakes. SO, I made the large cupcake cakes and the girls got to pick the fillings for the cakes and decorate however they liked. I think they had a lot of fun and I am so glad Emma picked a simple birthday cake for me to make for her! I can't believe that my oldest is 11 and getting so much closer to the teen years...yikes!

Summer Sport
Emma decided to try her hand at softball, she loved it, and for a first year, first timer proved she was a very capable player, I wouldn't be surprised if she plays again next summer. The younger two kiddos played on the same tball team. Addy was a lot more in to it then I every could have guessed she would be. She showed her true competitive side. Dylan became a master of the home run trot.
