Sick baby

What happens when a 14 month old gets the stomach crud and super dehydrated to the point where he doesn't cry a tear? He gets put in the Hospital Saturday night through Monday afternoon. And when their that dehydrated they have a hard time getting an IV so in his one tiny little hand they blew the vein. On to the other little tiny hand where they almost blow it (blood flowing EVERYWHERE) and two people have to hold onto it while mommy pushes the call button for more help. THEN they come in to do a catheter to get a urine sample. And sweet little boy who is already upset and screaming tries hitting mommy because he's so mad and hurt. Which mommy doesn't care and doesn't blame him. So Saturday night mommy spends most of the night standing next to his hospital crib rubbing his back. Sunday night we "sleep" in the recliner together. Monday Afternoon all tests come back clear and he is finally able to keep food and drink in him...longer then the 2 seconds he was doing. And we get to go home. And he is doing much better now. Not a huge appetite back yet but progress none the less.

Her Christmas Meal and Fun

She got a Nintendo DS for Christmas so that was a nice "keep her inactive" activity. Of course Jim and I are also addicted but that's another post, another time. Here's to extra creamy and oh so not thick mashed potatoes and those Christmas tree jigglers that actually did turn out. But what does the girl who has eaten nothing but jello and pudding get for dessert. Well did you know that Cool Whip when eaten out of the container can turn a frown upside down? seriously who needs McDonald's...just get a plastic tub of whip from your local grocers freezer department.

Welcome to the New Year

May it be a good one for you. So I have heard this saying before and was reminded of it again recently. Whatever you are doing at the end of the year you'll spend doing the entire year to come. Or something like that. Well if recovering from surgery is what we are doing than well I guess we'll be doing that this year of 2009.
Yup unfortunately it looks like it may be true. Emma is doing great off her meds, off her pain meds, eating more "real" food and right now outside riding on her new scooter. However, On the 31st Emma and Dylan had an eye appointment. Emma is doing really well, Dylan will probably have eye surgery in February. So there ya have it, Happy New Year, happy new surgeries!
